Originally from Ohio, Joseph developed a love for nature while hiking and camping with his family in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. His passion deepened during a transformative ten-day backpacking trip in New Mexico at the scout camp, where seeing the vibrant pink and purple bands of the Milky Way ignited a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors.
After earning his B.A. in Psychology from the University of Akron, Joseph moved to the White Mountains of New Hampshire to work at a ski resort. He eventually returned to New Mexico to serve on a conservation crew and perform cabin restoration. There he met the best pup in the world and named him Arrow. Today, the two are embarking on a new adventure in Utah to mentor young people, fostering self-reliance, confidence, and a deeper connection to the natural world along with themselves.
