Cedar grew up in the red rock country of Sedona, Arizona. He gained an affinity for the outdoors early— mountain biking with his dad up and down the west coast and hiking with his mother and friends at national parks. 

After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Arizona, Cedar worked as a reporter for a small town newspaper and then as a  freelance photographer in his early 20s. Seeking a more fulfilling career, he pivoted to sailing in 2022 where he eventually became a deckhand on a 100’ sailing ketch. While pursuing a career on the water, Cedar became passionate about instructing youth sailing, which led him to a career in social work. 

For three years – before moving back to the desert and joining Elements – Cedar worked for a hybrid sailing program and residential group home for teenage foster boys in Florida. 

At Elements, he continues his life-passion of teaching life-skills and helping others become the best version of themselves.
