Emma grew up in Atlanta, Georgia where she discovered her love of the outdoors through swimming, backpacking, and exploring nature. She went on to attend college in Southern California, where she completed a degree in Psychology and Environmental Studies with minors in Human-Animal Studies and Geographic Information Systems. While in college, Emma was a member of the swim team and enjoyed being part of a close-knit athletic and academic community.
Her background includes years of experience working with kids and teens as a swim coach and camp counselor. Before joining Elements, she spent summers counseling on Catalina Island and the mountains in North Carolina, as well as mentoring swimmers on various swim teams in Atlanta. She has also had the opportunity to study marine ecology and sustainability in places like Palau, Costa Rica, and Yellowstone National Park, deepening her understanding of the connection between people and the environment.
Emma was drawn to outdoor therapy because of her belief in the healing power of the outdoors. Having seen the value of treatment in the lives of loved ones, she is passionate about combining clinical and outdoor experiences to support growth and self-discovery in young people.
In her free time, Emma enjoys hiking, camping, kayaking, open-water swimming, and just about any adventure that gets her outside.
