Field Director

Sarah was born in Virginia but grew up throughout the East coast. Coming from a military family, she moved around from Virginia, Rhode Island, Maine, and New Hampshire. Sarah started attending summer camp when she was eight years old, which sparked a love for the outdoors early on.

When she was a junior in high school, she embarked on her first backpacking trip in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. This led to many more backcountry experiences, and a new-found love of backpacking. Throughout the following years of high school, she helped start a school climbing team and became increasingly involved in the school outing club. After high school, Sarah attended the University of New Hampshire. Before school began, Sarah participated in a pre-orientation backpacking trip for incoming freshman in the White Mountains. After this experience, she quickly decided to become an Outdoor Education major, eventually focusing on social work. Sarah went on to lead trips for the same freshman pre-orientation program that she attended. She also began leading outdoor trips for UNH campus recreation as a freshman and would eventually become a supervisor for both programs by senior year.

Sarah continued going to summer camp, and was a counselor there throughout college, holding positions as hiking staff, head of rock wall and ropes course, and wilderness team leader.

In the many backcountry experiences Sarah had throughout high school and college, she realized that she was the realest version of herself in the backcountry. She became increasingly passionate about sharing this love and realization with others. After discovering the field of wilderness therapy in a college course, it seemed like a perfect fit. Although the White Mountains will always be home, Sarah decided to trade forest for desert and more to Utah after graduation.

In her off shifts you can find her snowboarding, climbing, and petting dogs.
